ADRIAN — The Tri-County Elementary Science Olympiad brought 355 students to Adrian College for a day of hands-on science challenges and team competition.

The event included third- through fifth-grade students from Lenawee and Hillsdale counties. Organizers report 302 students participated from Lenawee County and 53 from Hillsdale County.

Students worked in teams to complete science-based activities designed to test creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Educators, volunteers and families attended throughout the day as students moved through competition events and demonstrations.

Overall team awards were presented by grade level. Clinton placed first in both the third- and fourth-grade divisions, while Morenci took first place in the fifth-grade competition.

Organizers say the annual event continues to grow and hope additional schools will participate in future Science Olympiad competitions.
