
ADRIAN — Adrian High School students earned multiple honors at the 2026 SVSU Math Olympics, bringing home individual medals and team trophies from the annual competition at Saginaw Valley State University.
Fifty-three students from Adrian High School competed February 20 in two divisions: Level I for students enrolled in Algebra 2 or lower, and Level II for students taking Precalculus through International Baccalaureate Mathematics.
Edward Hedrick placed second in Level II and received a medal for his performance. Dominic Bryan earned honorable mention in Level I, finishing in the top 10% of competitors.
Adrian High School teams also secured several awards, including a Level I team honorable mention, a third-place trophy in Level II and a third-place trophy in the combined Level I and II category.
Adrian High School Mathematics Teacher Jason Lucius and Mathematics Teacher Elaine Kaiser served as co-coaches for the team. Adrian High School Principal Sam Skeels said the results reflect both student determination and classroom preparation.
Superintendent Nate Parker said academic competitions such as the SVSU Math Olympics provide students opportunities to apply classroom learning in competitive settings and strengthen problem-solving skills.
