DuWaine George Spiegel, age 87 of Blissfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Blissfield Place, Blissfield. He was born on October 5, 1938, in Blissfield Township, Lenawee County, Michigan, the son of Ezra J. and Elvira A. (Simpson) Spiegel.
DuWaine graduated from Blissfield High School in 1956. He joined the United States Marine Corp in June of 1956 and served active duty until April of 1958. DuWaine completed his reserve obligation in June of 1962. He was proud of his service to our country. DuWaine married Josephine E. Clements on February 10, 1962, in Blissfield. She survives. DuWaine worked as a Tool and Die Maker for several local shops, retiring from Metal Forming and Coining in 2001. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, feeding the squirrels and bird watching. DuWaine was a member of the River Raisin Sportsman Club and the Marine Corp League.
Left to cherish DuWaine’s memory are his wife, Josephine; son, Doug (Julia) Spiegel; daughters, Monica Cantrell and Anne Spiegel; grandchildren, Dustin (Chelsey) Van Nest, Breanna (Josh) Bednarski, Jason Cheetam, Dean Cantrell and Renee (Nate) Willaert; great grandchildren, Greyson, Harper, Ayla and Nash; sister-in-laws; brother-in-laws; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tom and Larry Spiegel.
Funeral Services for DuWaine will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Marry Funeral Home, Blissfield with Father Jeff Poll officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Blissfield with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Robert Meachen Post #325 of Blissfield. Visitation will be on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 1-3 P.M. and 5-7 P.M. at the Marry Funeral Home, Blissfield.
