TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh Zoning Board of Appeals will hold two public hearings Tuesday, March 17, involving dimensional variance requests for properties on East Russell Road and Saulk Trail.

The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Tecumseh City Hall. The first public hearing begins at 6:32 p.m. and concerns 901 E. Russell Road.

Bryan and Michelle Crandall are requesting a dimensional variance to construct a 30-by-40-foot pole barn that would exceed the square footage allowed under the city’s zoning ordinance.

The property is located in the RA-1 district. City administration has recommended denial of the variance, stating the request does not meet the ordinance criteria for practical difficulty.

Immediately following that hearing, the board will consider a second dimensional variance request for 1402 Saulk Trail.

Multicraft Construction, on behalf of Daniel and Denise Leslie, is seeking approval to construct a covered patio that would extend into the required 25-foot rear-yard setback in the RA-2 district.

City administration has also recommended denial of that request, citing failure to meet the required standards for a dimensional variance.

Both hearings will include an opportunity for public comment. The board is expected to take action on the appeals during the same meeting.
