James “Jim” Kelly passed away, leaving behind a legacy of strength, sacrifice, and unwavering love for his family. To know him was to know reliability — the kind of steady presence you could always count on. He was the backbone of his family, a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and carried a quiet wisdom that shaped generations.  Jim proudly served in the United States Army for six years, including during the Vietnam War. In one of the most selfless acts imaginable, he went to war in place of his brother, Warren. That decision reflected the heart of the man he was — courageous, loyal, and willing to put others before himself without hesitation. His service was not something he boasted about, but it was something that defined his character: honorable, brave, and deeply devoted to family.  After returning home, Jim dedicated more than 40 years of his life to working as a truck driver and owner/operator. He built his career the same way he built everything in his life — through grit, determination, and integrity. Long hours on the road never lessened his commitment to those waiting for him at home. Providing for his family was his greatest pride.  Outside of work, Jim found peace and joy in simple but meaningful things. He loved golfing and bowling, spending time tending to his yard, and working in his garage — a place where he could fix just about anything. There was something special about watching him work with his hands; it was where his patience and precision met his quiet strength. His yard was always kept with care, a reflection of the pride he took in everything he did.  More than anything, Jim was full of wisdom. He didn’t need many words to teach life lessons — his actions spoke louder than anything he could say. He taught by example: work hard, stay humble, protect your family, and always do what is right. His love was steady and dependable, and his presence made others feel safe.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Josephine Kelly, and by his siblings Warren Kelly and Beverly Bullard.  He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Kelly; his sister, Nancy Rendeiro; and his children: Kelly (Chester) Webb, Jayme (Ken) Cottongim, Lora (Thomas) Cernuto, Jack (Christina) Couch III, Michelle Kelly, Angela Kelly, and James (Jolynn) Kelly.  He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren who will continue to carry forward his stories, his lessons, and his strength.  James was a soldier, a truck driver, a craftsman, a brother, and above all, a devoted family man. His life was one of sacrifice and quiet greatness, and he will be deeply missed and forever cherished.  We would like to give a special thanks to Right At Home, Courtney, and Tawnya for caring for him through his progression with ALS. We could never repay you.  We ask that if you would like to, please donate to the ALS Association in Jim’s honor. https://www.als.org/?form=general&s_src=donatebutton   Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
