
MONROE — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a vehicle pursuit and apprehension, which started in Frenchtown Township and later ended in Berlin Township.
At 3:05AM on Saturday, Monroe County Sheriff Deputy Brent Thomas attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver BMW SUV at North Dixie Highway and Sandy Creek Road for a traffic violation.
The vehicle briefly pulled over, as Deputy Thomas was able to obtain the license plate information, but then fled from the traffic stop northbound on North Dixie Highway.
A pursuit was initiated and then terminated when the vehicle reached the county line, however, downriver police agencies were notified of the vehicle in question.
At 3:48AM, Monroe County Central Dispatch advised that officers from the Flat Rock Police Department were in pursuit of the same vehicle headed southbound on Telegraph Road, coming back into Monroe County.
It was reported that the vehicle had two blown out tires and was on rims.
Flat Rock Police continued pursuing until Deputy Thomas took over at southbound Telegraph and Ready Roads.
The vehicle fled northbound on North I-275, where it exited at Carleton Rockwood Road and traveled eastbound until near Stoneridge Lane where it came to a stop.
The driver, a 35-year-old male from Toledo, was arrested on charges of Fleeing & Eluding and Resisting & Obstructing.
