ADRIAN — The Adrian Symphony Orchestra will present The Hidden Score on Friday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Dawson Auditorium at Adrian College.
The concert continues the orchestra’s 2025-2026 season under the direction of Music Director Bruce Kiesling and will feature guest cellist Sterling Elliott. The program opens with Otto Nicolai’s overture to The Merry Wives of Windsor, drawn from his comic opera based on the Shakespeare play.
The centerpiece of the evening is Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor. Elliott is a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient and winner of the senior division of the 2019 National Sphinx Competition. He has appeared with major orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra.
The program concludes with Elgar’s Enigma Variations, a series of musical portraits of the composer’s friends, including the well-known “Nimrod” variation.
A free pre-concert talk, Classical Conversations, begins at 6:40 p.m. in the auditorium. A cash bar opens in the lobby at 6:30 p.m. and remains available through intermission.
Ticket prices range from $15 to $41. Reserved seating is available in premium, general and economy sections. Tickets can be purchased online at adriansymphony.org, by calling the box office at 517-264-3121, or at the Dawson Auditorium box office one hour before the performance.
