LANSING — The Michigan State Police is accepting grant applications for programs that support communication training for limited English-speaking communities and individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing.
The Michigan State Police Grants and Community Services Division announced the competitive funding opportunity Wednesday. The grants are supported by funding appropriated in the state’s fiscal year 2026 budget.
According to Michigan State Police Director Col. James F. Grady II, the goal of the training is to strengthen communication between law enforcement officers and the public to reduce misunderstandings that could escalate into dangerous situations.
Eligible Michigan entities that provide law enforcement training may apply for up to $450,000. Funding can be used for programmatic and operational expenses.
Applications must be submitted to the Michigan State Police Grants and Community Services Division by noon Eastern on April 1.
Detailed grant information and application materials are available on the division’s website.
