David Benton Pekrul, age 64 of Brooklyn, MI, passed away at his home early in the morning of Tuesday, February 17, 2026, with his family present and under the care of Arbor Hospice. He was born October 3, 1961, in Lansing, MI, the son of Michael and Mary Ann (Ellis) Pekrul.

David worked in the communications industry, serving as a radio morning show host for many years, and most recently was employed by Michigan Medicine in Guest Services. He was gifted with a quick wit and amazing sense of humor, which served him well both on the air and in keeping friends and family on their toes. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed boating, swimming, fishing, and cheering for the Detroit Red Wings and U of M football. He found many happy moments enjoying the beach on a sunny day with his friends and family. He also enjoyed many trips to Cedar Point and loved a good roller coaster.

In addition to his wife Elizabeth, David is survived by his father, Michael (Lossie) Pekrul of Palm Bay, Fl, his son Jacob “Jack” Pekrul of Brooklyn, MI; his brothers, Steven (Heather) Pekrul and Daniel (Mary) Pekrul; his step-siblings, Jim (Laurie) Cummings, Laurie (David) Sarti, and Jeff Cummings; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother.

At his request, cremation has taken place. The family will hold a Celebration of Life for David at a later date.
