
WASHINGTON — The SAVE America Act has passed the U.S. House with support from Congressman Tim Walberg.
The bill would require documentary proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections and mandate photo ID at the polls.
Federal law already limits voting to U.S. citizens. Supporters say the measure strengthens election integrity. Critics argue noncitizen voting is rare and warn the bill could increase administrative burdens for states.

The House approved the legislation largely along party lines. The SAVE America Act now heads to the Senate for consideration.
