LANSING — The Michigan Lottery is warning the public about a rise in lottery-related scams circulating online and on social media.

Officials say some scams promote unauthorized gaming apps or websites that falsely claim to be affiliated with the Michigan Lottery. Others involve individuals on social media claiming to sell lottery tickets without authorization or without providing valid tickets.

The Michigan Lottery says tickets and online games should only be purchased at authorized retailers, through the official Michigan Lottery app, or at MichiganLottery.com. Lottery products cannot be purchased through social media, online casinos, or third-party gaming apps.

Lottery games, including online games, are only available for purchase within Michigan.

Anyone with questions about a prize, promotion, or offer can contact the Michigan Lottery directly at 844-917-6325 or by email at onlinehelp@michiganlottery.com.

Officials urge anyone who believes they were scammed to report it to law enforcement and appropriate state or federal agencies.
