Morenci Fire Department honors Firefighter of the Year

MORENCI — The City of Morenci has recognized Captain Colin Richardson as the 2025 Morenci Firefighter of the Year during the department’s annual Fireman’s Banquet.

Richardson has served with the Morenci Fire Department since 2014 and was honored for his professionalism, leadership, and commitment to firefighter safety and training. During his tenure, he has earned EMT certification, taken on leadership roles, and contributed to department readiness through gear inventory management and support of fire and rapid intervention team training.

Richardson has completed extensive additional training, including rope rescue, ice rescue, vehicle extrication, electric vehicle response, and tactical emergency casualty care. The department noted he has maintained perfect attendance at all required trainings.

The department also recognized years of service awards, including Farra Ryan for 30 years; Tyler Schell and RJ Robinson for 15 years each; and Luke Miller and Johnathan Fee for five years each.

City officials thanked the members of the Morenci Fire Department for their continued service to the community.
