Loraine Marie Brieschke – Blissfield

Loraine Marie Brieschke, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was 92 years old.

Loraine was born on September 27, 1933, in Detroit, MI to Ralph and Caroline Vanneste. She moved to Adrian in 1949 with her parents and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1951.

On August 28, 1954, Loraine married Frederick Brieschke, Jr. and moved to Blissfield. Fred passed away in 2013, after 59 years together. In 1955, she went to work for the Riley and Riley law firm in Blissfield, then later worked at Saxmayer Corporation in Blissfield for 18 years. She then went back to Riley’s law office until her retirement in 1994. She loved to travel and spent many winters in Daytona Beach, Florida, where they had many great friends. Loraine enjoyed hosting all the holidays with family and was known for her cooking, baking (especially pies), crocheting, knitting and gardening.

Loraine is survived by children: Gary (Linda) Brieschke of Onsted; Thomas Brieschke of Blissfield; Karen (Sanford) Wexler of Novi and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Brieschke; 8 grandchildren: Blake Brieschke, Kyle (Rita) Brieschke, Cody (Natalie) Brieschke, Andy (Lindsey) Brieschke, Tony (Candice) Brieschke, Brendan Wexler, Ryan Wexler, and Rachael Wexler; and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Fred, Loraine was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Brieschke; son, Donald Brieschke; and sister, Carol Jean Dohm.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 9-11:00 a.m. at the Wagley Funeral Home-Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Light of Christ Catholic Parish in Blissfield, MI, with Fr. Jeff Poll as celebrant. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery, Blissfield.
