LANSING — WLEN is extending its condolences to State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz and her family following the passing of her son, Christopher Reardon.
In a statement released today, Schmaltz said her son died unexpectedly Friday, January 16, in California, after a brief illness. He was 31.
Schmaltz expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support and described her son as a kind, compassionate young man whose generosity touched many lives.
Christopher Reardon grew up in Jackson and graduated from Lumen Christi High School in 2012. After college, he moved to California, where he earned a degree in secondary education and taught English and social studies.
Funeral services will be held next week in Jackson.
