Roy Lee Leathers, age 75, passed away surrounded by his family at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital on Thursday, January 22, 2026. He was born on July 28, 1950, to William and Georgia (Challender) Leathers in Lansing, Michigan.

On April 28, 1969, Roy married the love of his life, Leona Teschendorf, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. They shared an amazing 55 years together before her passing in 2025. Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army earning a bronze star. After being honorably discharged on February 7, 1973, he worked several places prior to starting with Rima where he worked for 20 years. Roy also drove for Coachman. He was a proud member of both the VFW and the American Legion. In his free time, Roy enjoyed hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family.

Left to honor Roy’s memory is his daughter, Tracy Steiner, son, Bill (Sarah) Leathers, eight grandchildren: Dustin Hinkley, Channel Deakins, Cheyanne (Bobby) Ballard, Alex (Alyssa) Leathers, Kallie (Kyle) Leathers, Dylan Leathers, Payge (Noah) Leathers, and Zach Williams, 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Patti) Leathers, Rex (Robbi) Leathers and sister, Louan Chaffiee. He is preceded in death by his wife, Leona; his parents; brothers, John Leathers, Duane Leathers and sister Brenda Rodgers.

Memorial Service for Roy will be at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Marry Funeral Home, Hudson, Michigan with Darren Lemmon officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the memorial service from 12:00p.m. – 2:00p.m. A private burial will be held in April at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan
