MICHIGAN — Face Addiction Now has announced the hiring of a new senior advisor to strengthen its work with law enforcement agencies across Michigan.

The Michigan-based nonprofit says retired Deputy Chief Jeffrey Filzek has joined the organization as Senior Advisor of Law Enforcement Engagement and Training, effective Jan. 12.

Filzek spent nearly 26 years with the Madison Heights Police Department and most recently served as deputy chief. His career included leadership roles in training, recruitment and community response, along with work on addiction-focused programs.

Face Addiction Now says the position was created as its partnerships with police departments continue to expand statewide. The role is focused on building relationships, aligning training efforts and supporting collaborative response models.

Filzek will work with agencies to connect individuals struggling with substance use to treatment and services, including programs such as Quick Response Teams and Hope Not Handcuffs.

Organization leaders say the hire will help strengthen consistency and long-term collaboration with public safety partners across Michigan.
