ADRIAN — Respiratory illness levels in Lenawee County are trending downward following the holiday season.
Health Officer Monica Hunt reported to the Board of Health that influenza and COVID-19 remain at moderate transmission levels, while RSV is currently low but slightly increasing.
Officials said fewer residents are seeking care for acute respiratory illnesses overall. Adult cases have been declining steadily, and youth cases are beginning to fall as well.
Officials also noted that gastrointestinal illnesses are decreasing since the holidays, a seasonal trend that is not unexpected after large gatherings and travel.
In addition, county health officials reported no new detections of avian influenza since November 21, 2025.
Statewide, Michigan is currently tracking 30 measles cases, with no new cases reported so far in 2026.
Health officials said they will continue monitoring trends as winter continues.
