LENAWEE CO. — A recycling pilot program in Lenawee County is seeing strong participation, according to environmental health officials.
Officials reported that recycling dumpsters placed in Hudson, Onsted, and Blissfield have been heavily used since the program began.
The increased use has prompted additional education efforts to help residents understand what materials can be recycled and how to properly use the sites.
Officials are also exploring potential design changes, including added signage or modified dumpster openings, to help reduce overflow and improve efficiency.
The pilot program is scheduled to run for nine months.
Health officials said the results will be used to determine whether the recycling sites should become permanent fixtures in those communities.
Additional updates on the pilot program are expected later this year.
