May Octavia Butler, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with her Lord, on January 8, 2026, at 100 years of age.
May is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia I. Mitchell and Kathleen L. Wood; three grandchildren, Bryan Jones, Melissa Ackermann, and Elliot Wood; and three great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward (Robert).
May loved life and had many friends. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the Tecumseh Senior Center.
A celebration of life for May will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tecumseh at 12pm. Visitation will take place from 11am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gloria Dei Church or Tecumseh Senior Center.
