Vonda A. Lemon, age 97 of Adrian, passed away on January 17, 2026, at Charlotte Stephenson Manor under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. Born on July 27, 1928, in Eaton Rapids, MI, she was the middle child of Homer and Amber (Hall) Eckard.
Vonda graduated from Eaton Rapids High School and went on to attend Michigan State University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in education in 1950. Later, Vonda received her master’s in education from Siena Heights College.
On August 19, 1950, Vonda married D. Jack Lemon in her hometown of Eaton Rapids. Together they had 4 children, which brought a good share of excitement and activity into the family home. They enjoyed over 65 years of marriage before Jack’s passing on March 19, 2016.
Vonda’s career in the educational field had her working as a teacher at Drager Middle School for many years. She embraced the opportunity to work with students and truly made a difference in their young lives. Vonda was a longtime member of the Adrian First United Methodist Church and was a part of their sewing group. She was very active in her community and was involved with the Adrian Garden Club, Monday Literary Club, PEO, and the Bixby Hospital Auxiliary.
Vonda is survived by her children, James (Nancy) Lemon, Linda LaRocque, Juna (Mark) Casper and son-in-law, Dave Reynolds; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way in February; and 2 great-great-grandsons.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack; daughter, Jackie Reynolds, brother, Robert Eckard and sister in infancy, Amelia Eckard.
Vonda will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adrian First United Methodist Church or Hospice of Lenawee.
