ADRIAN — Lenawee County has secured a Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant to strengthen emergency response across county facilities.
The grant will fund the purchase of five 800-megahertz emergency radios and 30 automated external defibrillators, commonly known as AEDs.
County officials say the radios will support emergency management and operations at the county’s emergency operations center, while the AEDs will be installed throughout county buildings to improve response during cardiac emergencies.
The equipment is fully funded through the grant, with no cost to county taxpayers.
The grant was coordinated by Health Officer Monica Hunt, working in partnership with Lenawee County Emergency Management.
County maintenance staff will handle installation and upkeep of the AED units, and training resources will be made available to county employees.
Officials say the upgrades are intended to improve communication during emergencies and provide life-saving equipment in public buildings countywide.
