BROOKLYN — Lenawee County commissioners have approved a letter of support for a regional bid to host the USA Cycling Gravel National Championships in 2027 and 2028.

The proposal comes from a regional partnership involving Experience Jackson, Visit Lenawee, and Destination Ann Arbor. Organizers say the event would bring thousands of visitors to the area.

Ryan Tarrant, president and CEO of Experience Jackson, told commissioners the national championships would have a major economic impact on smaller communities.

Organizers say Michigan International Speedway would serve as the hub for the event.

Steve Chosen, outdoor recreation manager with Experience Jackson, said the speedway gives the region a competitive advantage.

Chosen added the venue already meets national championship requirements for parking, media, and hospitality.

Commissioners unanimously approved the letter of support. No county funding is being requested.
