
Carol Diane Spangler, age 79, of Hudson, MI, passed away in her home on Friday, January 9, 2026.
Carol was born on July 27, 1946, in Lakewood, OH, to Stanley R. and Olga L. (Rebrovich) Woolket. She married Douglas E. Spangler, Jr. on August 31, 1968, in Avon Lake, OH. They were blessed with 54 years together before Doug’s passing on November 22, 2022.
Carol attended Cleveland State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in 1969. Carol was a woman of strength and virtue, a worthy wife to her husband, and a devoted mother to her children. She homeschooled her children and taught religious education classes at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following that, she worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant—first at Metalloy Corporation in Hudson, MI; then at Osbourne, March, Condon & Co., P.C. in Hillsdale, MI. Carol was excellent at calligraphy and stenography, and she especially enjoyed sewing and spending time baking with her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her son, Douglas (Erin “Wren”) Spangler of Manitou Beach, MI; her daughter, Leah (Scott) Staup of Foreston, MN; six grandchildren: Emily (Conor) Mulligan, Carolyn Spangler, Nathan Spangler, Collin Staup, Lauren (Austin) Ramirez, and Aiden Staup; and her sister, Rosalie Huy of Lafayette, CA. Carol is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brother, Joseph Woolket.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Marry Funeral Home in Hudson from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. The funeral Mass for Carol will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at St. Mary on the Lake Church in Manitou Beach, beginning at noon with Fr. Todd Koenigsknecht as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery near Hudson, MI, with a luncheon immediately following at Sacred Heart Church in Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary on the Lake. Arrangements have been entrusted to Marry Funeral Home, Hudson (www.marryfh.com).
