ADRIAN — An Adrian man will remain jailed after a Lenawee County judge reduced but upheld a high cash bond during a pretrial hearing, citing public safety concerns.
Judge Laura Schaedler explained the legal standards governing bond decisions while addressing arguments from the defense seeking a substantial reduction.
That was Judge Laura Schaedler.
Defense attorneys argued the bond was excessive, but the judge rejected that claim, citing public safety concerns and Lambert’s prior armed robbery convictions in Wayne County.
Lambert’s bond was reduced from $875,000 to $600,000 cash or surety, and the hearing was adjourned until the probable cause conference on January 26 due to ongoing discovery issues.
In a separate misdemeanor case, Lambert is charged with domestic violence. Bond in that case remains set at $1,000 with no-contact and no-weapons conditions. Both cases remain pending.
