ADRIAN — Siena Heights University and the Adrian Dominican Sisters have announced the creation of the Phoenix Committee to explore new possibilities for the future use of the Siena Heights campus following the university’s academic closure in June 2026.
The joint committee is co-chaired by Siena Heights University Board Chairman Harry “Dusty” Steele and Adrian Dominican Prioress Elise D. García, OP. The 12-member group includes representatives from the university, the Adrian Dominican Sisters, and the broader Adrian and Lenawee County community.
The Phoenix Committee has engaged the Consulting Corps of the Counselors of Real Estate, a nonprofit organization of commercial real estate professionals, to assist with the evaluation process. The consulting team is expected to visit Adrian within the next two months to conduct interviews and complete a comprehensive analysis of the campus and surrounding community needs.
At the same time, the committee will invite proposals from educational institutions, community organizations, and other interested parties. Priority will be given to proposals aligned with the mission and values of Siena Heights University and the Adrian Dominican Sisters, that are financially viable, and that serve the common good.
Final recommendations will be reviewed by the university’s Board of Trustees and the General Council of the Adrian Dominican Sisters.
