ADRIAN — The City of Adrian is moving forward with plans to pursue additional state funding for future infrastructure and community improvements.
During the January 5 City Commission meeting, commissioners authorized city staff to apply for a Fiscal Year 2029 Small Urban Grant through the State of Michigan. As part of that authorization, the city committed to providing the required 20% local match if the grant application is approved.
The Small Urban Grant program is typically used by communities to support transportation and infrastructure projects that improve safety, accessibility, and long-term mobility.
City officials have not yet identified a specific project tied to the application, but the approval allows staff to prepare and submit the grant request ahead of state deadlines.
If awarded, the grant would help offset a significant portion of project costs, with the local match covering the remaining share.
The application will now move forward through the state review process, with any final funding decisions expected closer to the 2029 fiscal year.
