
FRENCHTOWN TWP. — Monroe County authorities are reporting a vehicle pursuit and arrest that took place Monday night in Frenchtown Township.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to stop a gray Ford Mustang around 8:30 p.m. after observing careless driving and no license plate near War Road. The vehicle failed to stop and fled, leading deputies through multiple roads in Frenchtown Township at speeds ranging from about 30 to 110 miles per hour.
The pursuit continued through several residential areas before the vehicle pulled into a driveway in the 8500 block of Andre Street.
An 18-year-old male driver from Newport was taken into custody without incident. A 19-year-old female passenger from Newport was released at the scene.
The driver was lodged in the Monroe County Jail on a charge of fleeing and eluding. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment in First District Court.
