
Ann Laurine Mason, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at Cambrian Assisted Living, where she was lovingly cared for during the final four years of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Bunk, who passed in 2018, following 46 years of marriage.
Ann graduated from Mumford High School, Class of 1958. She went on to earn a teaching degree from Wayne State University, and later returned to Wayne State to complete a degree in electrical engineering—a testament to her lifelong love of learning and intellectual curiosity. Ann devoted many years of her professional life to education, teaching in the Detroit Public Schools, where she positively influenced and inspired countless students.
A longtime resident of Clinton, Michigan, Ann was deeply committed to her community. She was an active member of the Clinton Women’s Club, serving as its president for several years, and was also involved with the Clinton Planning Commission, where she held the role of chairperson for one term. Ann dedicated 20 years of service to the Smith-Kimball Community Center Board, generously giving her time and leadership.
Her faith was central to her life. Ann was a devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild, the Bishop’s Committee, and was an active participant in the Episcopal Church Women. Ann was a lifelong learner with a creative and adventurous spirit. She became a Master Gardener and enjoyed a wide range of artistic pursuits, including charcoal and pastel drawing, painting, stained glass work, and playing the guitar. She was an avid golfer and a proud member of a women’s golf league for more than 20 years. Ann also loved the outdoors and could often be found camping or fly fishing, activities that brought her great joy and peace.
Strong, intelligent, and deeply engaged in the world around her, Ann was truly a force to be reckoned with. She will be remembered for her leadership, creativity, generosity, and unwavering commitment to learning and service. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 1pm-2pm, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Smith-Kimball Community Center.
