ADRIAN — The City of Adrian is entering the final year of its Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which covers the 2021 through 2026 planning cycle.
The plan guides park development, prioritizes maintenance, and determines grant eligibility for state and federal funding. With 2026 underway, the city is approaching the end of that planning window.
Several major projects listed in the plan remain unfinished, including trail improvements at Island Park, expansion of the Kiwanis Trail connection to Heritage Park, and other capital upgrades identified earlier in the cycle.
The plan also outlines unresolved decisions related to Bohn Pool. A feasibility study and potential renovation or replacement of Bohn Pool remain pending, with estimated costs ranging into the millions.
Because the master plan is required for Michigan Department of Natural Resources grant eligibility, the final year places added pressure on securing funding and determining which projects carry forward into the next planning cycle.
City officials are expected to use 2026 to assess progress and prepare for a new parks master plan.
