MORENCI — The City of Morenci is continuing its Hometown Hero Banner Program in 2026, honoring local military service members and veterans with banners displayed throughout downtown.
City officials thanked everyone who participated in the 2025 program and recognized the continued partnership with the Morenci American Legion to carry the program forward.
The 2026 Hometown Hero Banner Program will open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4. Applications will be available at Morenci City Hall and on the city’s website at that time.
A total of 40 banner locations are available. The first 30 approved applications will be placed along Main Street and North Street, followed by 10 additional locations on Orchard Street and Baker Street.
Participants from 2025 may renew their existing banners for a $30 fee if the banners remain in good condition. New or replacement banners are available for $150.
Early applications or reservations will not be accepted.
