It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine Yuskowatz on December 28, 2025.
Lorraine was born October 7, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan to Ignacy (Jim) and Stanislawa (Stella) Zajac. Following her graduation from Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Lorraine earned her degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. Once a Huron, Always a Huron!
Lorraine spent over 30 years as a dedicated Teacher. Throughout her career, she taught preschool through fifth grade and made lifelong connections with former students. She always thought it was a point of pride to also teach a child of a former student.
Lorraine met her husband, Richard (Rick) Yuskowatz at Camp Dearborn in the Summer of 1972. After marrying on September 20, 1974, Lorraine and Rick lived for a short time in Detroit prior to settling in Wyandotte. At their family home in Wyandotte, Lorraine and Rick welcomed two daughters, Beth Zorn (Derek) and Katie Wojcik (Ben).
Lorraine and Rick share great memories of travel with their daughters to places like Disney, Fort Meyers Beach, Virginia, Hawaii, and Austria. Lorraine filled her days with embroidery, crafts, reading, and connecting with friends and family. For the last 12 years, Lorraine has spent her days as a loving, boastful grandma to Will & Ethan (Zorn) and Ben, Stella, and Livie (Wojcik).
Lorraine is survived by her sisters Dorothy Kullgren (Don) and Deenie Cibor, brother-in-law Mike Yuskowatz (Norene), and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Joann Campbell, son-in-law Derek, brother-in-law Ray Cibor, and nephew Michael Yuskowatz.
Lorraine loved and was loved by many and will be so greatly missed. Go Blue!
Visitation for Lorraine will begin at 9:30 am on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 334 Elm Street, Wyandotte, MI 48192, with a Memorial Mass at 10:00 am.
