TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh District Library is launching a new men-focused book club aimed at getting more people reading and talking about books.
The monthly group, called Rough Drafts, will begin Wednesday, Jan. 7, with its first meeting held at Tecumseh Tavern on East Chicago Boulevard. Meetings will run from 7 p.m. to about 8:30 and continue on the first Wednesday of each month.
Library Director Jordan Wright says the idea grew out of long-standing data showing men read for pleasure at much lower rates than women. The club is designed to offer a relaxed, low-pressure setting for discussion.
The first book selection is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. The library has copies available, and no library card or registration is required.
While the club focuses on themes like fatherhood, resilience and history, it is open to everyone.
More information is available at tecumsehlibrary.org or by contacting the Tecumseh District Library directly.
