BERLIN TWP. — A serious injury traffic crash in Berlin Township remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the crash occurred Wednesday night, December 24, on Helen Street near Barney Street and was reported just before 10 p.m.
Investigators say a pickup truck traveling northeast stopped after a brief interaction with a pedestrian along the roadway. After the vehicle pulled away, the driver later noticed the pedestrian injured on the side of the road.
The driver returned to assist and transported the injured woman to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital. Authorities believe the woman fell to the ground and was run over as the vehicle pulled away.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The woman remains in critical condition.
