DUNDEE — A pedestrian was seriously injured Thursday afternoon following a crash on M-50 in the Village of Dundee.
According to the Dundee Police Department, officers and the Dundee Township Fire Department responded around 3:20 p.m. Christmas Day to a vehicle-pedestrian crash near the Dollar General store on East Monroe Street.
Investigators say a 65-year-old Dundee man was crossing East Monroe Street outside of a marked crossing area when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The driver, a 21-year-old woman from Sylvania, Ohio, attempted to stop but was unable to avoid the collision.
Police report alcohol was a factor, stating the pedestrian was intoxicated and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. The driver was not injured.
The pedestrian was transported by Monroe Community Ambulance to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor with a fractured leg and lacerations.
The crash remains under investigation.
