Charles Douglas James, 73, of Addison, MI, passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2025 at his home on Devils Lake. “Chuck” was born and raised in Adrian, MI and relocated to Devils Lake in 1982. He is survived by his daughter Chloe Aurelia James. In addition to his daughter, he is also survived by sister Margaret Bundy, Thomas James, sister in-laws Dorothy and Shelly James, and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents Dale and Aurelia James, brothers Ken and Phil James, and Chloe’s mother Golda Irene James. Chuck was a multi-talented/skilled individual in many areas such as carpentry, real estate, culinary arts, construction, and heavy equipment operation. Chuck was the first person that people would seek out for help and advice on various projects. He was known as the Mayor of Clarks Cove and well known for his Chuckisms. He especially enjoyed his life long friend, Ralph Dudley, coming out to visit and entertain at the lake. Chuck loved his life at the lake and could often be found sitting on his deck or the boathouse enjoying the scenery and wildlife that surrounded him. Many knew seeing him in that state, all is right with the world. Per Chuck’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held sometime during the summer with the date to be determined.
