TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh City Commission has approved wages for Election Commission members, following action taken at its December 15 meeting.
City officials approved compensation of $35 per meeting for each Election Commissioner beginning in 2026. The commission typically meets two to four times per year and includes the city clerk and two appointed city residents.
The change follows an update to Tecumseh’s City Charter, bringing it in line with state law, which allows Election Commission members to be paid for their time and required duties.
City staff said the compensation recognizes the work commissioners perform to meet state election requirements, including appointing election inspectors and overseeing election procedures.
The wages are not currently budgeted for the 2025–26 fiscal year, but officials plan to include the cost in the 2026–27 budget.
