LENAWEE CO. — A Lenawee County employer is among nearly 450 businesses statewide receiving new workforce training funds through the state’s Going PRO Talent Fund.
Wacker Chemical received funding through Michigan Works Southeast as part of a $25 million grant package awarded by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
State officials say the grants will support training for more than 12,800 workers across Michigan, including current employees, new hires, and registered apprentices. The funding is aimed at helping employers fill high-demand positions while giving workers access to short-term, industry-recognized training.
Officials report that workers who complete Going PRO-supported training see an average hourly wage increase of just over 6 percent.
Most of the businesses receiving funding are small employers with fewer than 500 workers.
Additional grant funding is expected to open statewide in spring 2026, with applications coordinated through local Michigan Works agencies.
