
Rose Mary Smith, age 83, of Centerville, OH, formerly of Morenci, Napoleon OH, and Ft. Myers, FL, died Thursday afternoon, December 11, 2025, while under the care of Hospice of Dayton. Born October 3, 1942, in Flemingsburg, KY, Rose was the daughter of the late Arnold and Eula (Downey) Estep.
On July 13th 1963, she married Joseph Lee Ball. After Joe’s passing in 1979, she married Sidney Triever Smith on May 10, 1986, in Cincinnati. They shared over 36 years of making memories together until his death on December 5, 2022.
Rose worked for 12 years at Morenci Area Schools as a cook until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed sewing and reading in her spare time.
Surviving are four children, Joseph (Vicki) Ball of Centerville, OH, David “Shane” (Angela) Ball of Jackson, MI, Michael (Dawn) Smith of Marion, OH, and Mark (Kathi) Smith of Marion; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joan Ball and Barb Riggs; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place. The family will receive friends for visitation at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. until a memorial service begins at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Darren Lemmon will officiate. She will be inurned privately in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
Memorial contributions can be made in Rose’s honor to benefit Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
