ADRIAN — Lenawee County has approved a $1.5 million state home rehabilitation grant that will fund repairs for up to 75 owner-occupied homes across the county.

The funding comes through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority’s MI Neighborhood Program and will support critical home improvements tied to safety, livability, and long-term housing stability.

County officials say projects are scheduled through the end of 2026, with an extension into 2027 expected to allow full use of the funds. A third-party administrator will oversee the individual rehabilitation projects, with additional details expected in the coming months.

In other county business, commissioners are moving forward with a proposed 10-year, $4 million contract with Axon, the law-enforcement technology company that provides body cameras, digital evidence systems, and data storage.

The plan would consolidate multiple existing contracts into one agreement, add unlimited digital evidence storage, and include an opt-out clause for future boards.

The proposal advanced following split committee votes and is expected to receive further discussion before final approval.
