LENAWEE CO. — Lenawee County is reminding dog owners that 2026 dog license applications are now open.

Michigan law requires all dogs four months or older to be licensed, making the annual tag an important part of identification and public safety.

Owners must provide a paper Rabies Certificate, and the vaccine must be valid for at least two weeks beyond the license issue date. Spay or neuter details should be included on the certificate when applicable.

Licenses may be renewed by mail or in person through the Lenawee County Treasurer’s Office. Mail renewals must include a copy of the Rabies Certificate, payment by check or money order, and a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Service dogs qualify for a no-fee license with proof of service status.

New residents and new puppies must be licensed within 30 days of receiving the Rabies vaccine.
