ADRIAN — The Adrian City Commission recognized three firefighters Monday night as they completed their probationary year and received their official department badges.
Fire Chief Aric Massingill presented the badges during a formal pinning ceremony, a longstanding fire service tradition in which family members place the badge for the first time.
The firefighters include Kerry Kieth, who previously served in Addison and Inkster before joining Adrian; Timothy Schisler, a third-generation firefighter who came from the Morenci Fire Department; and Kirsten Pennington, who trained at the Houston Fire Academy and worked in Houston before relocating to Michigan.
Each firefighter was joined by relatives as they were formally welcomed into the department.
