Rose Eleanor (Sheldon) Covell of Tecumseh, MI, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025 at Tecumseh Place Assisted Living , at age 98.
Over the years, Rose dedicated her time and energy to her church. She was a very devote Christian, who lived by the lessons of her faith. Most mornings for Rose started with meeting friends for coffee at the local McDonalds. She was a regular customer for lunch at Tecumseh’s Big Boy, where staff and customers alike would call her out by name. Those who knew Rose, knew of her extensive wardrobe of hats…a hat for every occasion. She worked at Stubnitz/Hoover Ball Bearing, but later baked and decorated special occasion cakes, followed by basket weaving and later working in a Garden Center.
Rose is survived by her sister-in-law Georgianna Covell, nieces Beth (Mark) Wiemer, Dina (James) Roberts, nephews David (Deb) Moyer, Gerald (Peggy) Moyer, and John (Diane) Moyer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Covell. Rose and Carl were married on July 15, 1954 until Carl’s death on April 10, 1979. Also preceding her in death, her twin sister Ruby (Sheldon) Moyer, brothers-in-law Russell Moyer and Richard Covell, and her parents George and Mary (Harker) Sheldon.
A visitation will be held at Purse & Son Funeral Home in Tecumseh, MI, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 11am-1pm, followed by a 1:00pm funeral sevice at Purse & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Brian Fath officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
