
Rosamaria Martinez Perez, age 85, of Adrian, MI passed away after a long illness on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Hospice of Lenawee.
Rosamaria was born on March 7th, 1940, in Encinal, TX to the late Santos Arizola Martinez and the late Maria Cuellar Martinez. On December 28, 1963, she married Cleofas Perez Jr. in Corpus Christi, TX.
Surviving are her children, Cleofas Perez III (Carol) of Vero Beach FL., Michael Perez (Robin) of Adrian, MI., Gregg Perez (Debi) of Dexter, MI., and Albert Perez (Heather) of Adrian, MI. One brother Jose Santos Martinez of Bedford, TX. Nine grandchildren Antonio Michael, Jake Levi, Rick Michael, Riley Joseph, Holly Robin, Vincent Andres, Juliana Rose Perez Cameron Edward McLaren, and Laura Devon McLaren. Two great grandchildren, Rayne Diaz and Remy Michael Perez.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cleofas Perez Jr, her parents Santos Arizola Martinez and Maria Cuellar Martinez, two sisters Lucia Del Castillo and Sylvia Garcia and one brother Joaquin Marinez.
Rosamaria was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pigeon Forge, TN where she served as Director of Religious Education, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist team, baptismal teacher, taught First Communion classes and together with her late husband served as Hispanic Minister & Pastoral Care Minister.
Rosamaria graduated valedictorian from Cotulla High School in 1958 and earned her BS degree in Home Economics from Texas A & I University in 1961 and her MA degree in Guidance & Counseling from Siena Heights University. She retired from Adrian High School as a counselor in June 1999 and moved with her husband to Sevierville, TN.
Rosamaria was a Sorority member of P.E.O., Chapter J, in Knoxville, TN. She served as the Secretary of Holy Cross Council of Catholic Women as well as Secretary of the Smoky Mountain Deanery Council of Catholic Women. Rosamaria’s most enjoyable moments were hiking the Smoky Mountains with her husband, her children, and her grandchildren and traveling with her late husband. Rosamaria gained her strength from knowing, loving, and serving God.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph campus on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 10:30 am with Fr. Michael Newman officiating. Viewing will be held at Anderson Marry Adrian, on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a rosary service taking place at 6:30 pm. She will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery with her husband Cleofas in Augusta, MI.
