ADRIAN — The annual community tree lighting will take place Monday, December 1, on the front lawn of the historic Old Courthouse in downtown Adrian.
Festivities begin at 7 p.m., with the tree scheduled to be lit at 7:30. County officials said the event marks the formal start of the holiday season in Lenawee County.
The holiday tree, which arrived on November 13, has already been positioned on the courthouse lawn to prepare for the celebration. The community tree lighting is a longstanding tradition organized to bring families, neighbors, and visitors together as the downtown district’s decorations officially come to life.
Attendance is free. According to county staff, the gathering is non-ticketed, open to residents of all ages, and does not require registration. Community members are encouraged to arrive early to secure a viewing spot on the lawn.
Event organizers said the community tree lighting is coordinated annually to launch December events across Lenawee County. The evening is expected to draw attendees from throughout the area and will serve as the ceremonial start of downtown holiday programming.
No road closures or parking restrictions have been announced, but officials advise planning ahead due to past turnout.
The tree lighting will feature an outdoor countdown and illumination. Limited lighting tests were already completed when the tree was delivered earlier this month.
The event will be streamed on Lenawee TV.
