ADRIAN — Adrian Public Schools held a community forum to review its proposed community recreation facility and to discuss possibly adding a pool due to Bohn Pool’s expected shutdown next summer.
The original bond plan calls for a $25–27.5 million facility attached to Adrian High School, funded by a 0.75 mill increase, about $75 per year on a $200,000 home.
It would include turf, an indoor track, three basketball courts, fitness space, and secure access. Officials cited growing youth rec participation, limited indoor space, and access gaps for students unable to afford private training venues.
Operational costs are projected at $333,000 annually and would be covered through programming and select tournaments.
With Bohn Pool failing, the district is studying a reduced-footprint community pool that could increase the millage to 0.95, around $95 annually on a $200,000 home. The city has signalled its willingness to manage pool maintenance.
