Postcard Scam Alert Targets Veterans

LENAWEE CO. — The Lenawee County Department of Veterans Affairs is warning veterans and their families about a postcard scam circulating locally.

The mailing falsely promotes a “2025 Michigan Veterans Savings Program” and urges recipients to call a number for more information. Officials say the postcard is not from any government agency, and people should not call the number or share personal information.

According to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, scammers often use government look-alike mail to mislead people into providing sensitive data or paying fees.

Veterans with questions can contact the Lenawee County Veterans Services Office at 517-264-5335.

Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and share the alert with veterans they know.
