LENAWEE CO. — Lenawee County has secured a home improvement grant totaling $1.5 million from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority through the MI Neighborhood Program.
The funding will support essential maintenance upgrades for up to 75 local homeowners, helping preserve long-term housing stability for low- to moderate-income residents.
The grant is funded through the Community Development Block Grant initiative and is intended to strengthen neighborhoods by improving aging housing conditions. According to the press release, eligible repair activities may include roof replacement, HVAC upgrades, siding, window and door repairs, and other vital health and safety improvements. County officials said increasing repair costs and displacement risks prompted the funding application.
Officials anticipate releasing additional information as the program develops.
Once administration is in place, Lenawee County will begin accepting applications and guide qualifying residents through the improvement process. The initiative is expected to help prevent displacement and preserve affordable housing across local neighborhoods.
