
ADRIAN — Lenawee County marked Adoption Day Tuesday, November 18, at the Rex B. Martin Judicial Building, celebrating the theme “Thankful for Family.”
The event began at 1:30 p.m. with refreshments and a meet-and-greet with Honorable Catherine A. Sala, followed by adoption finalizations. Three families formally completed their adoptions.
DeWayne and Sarah Elledge adopted a 14-month-old child named Drue, marking their fifth adoption. Debra Sumner finalized the adoption of her 4-year-old great-niece, Serenity. Wade and Lisa Perry adopted a 10-year-old girl named Sarah.
Each family received gift packages donated by local businesses. County Administrator Kim Murphy said the day highlights powerful acts of love and new beginnings for local children and families.
