Charity Christina Smith, age 36, of Hudson, died Sunday, November 16, 2025, at ProMedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania. Born February 27, 1989, in Adrian, she was the daughter of Robert and Christina (Stidham) Smith.
Charity lived her formative years in Morenci, and graduated from Morenci Area Schools with the Class of 2007. A free spirit, she then traveled west, settling in Denver, CO for five years where she worked in a hospital and cared for adults with developmental disabilities. Returning to Michigan, Charity obtained an Associates Degree in graphic design from Jackson College while interning at the Pro Shop in Hudson and working at Grand River Brewery in Jackson as a server. Most recently, she worked as a clerk at Sukhi’s gas station in Hudson, greeting customers with her beautiful smile and personality.
Artistically talented, Charity loved painting on any media and was skilled in making bows and t-shirts, merchandise she was proud to market at area craft shows where she also provided her signature “Gypsii Soul” face painting and mermaid braiding. She also took great pride in her physical fitness routines, especially biking and running, and she adored children. Charity’s beauty and happiness were always present, and she was always engaging in conversation with anyone she encountered, never knowing a stranger. Her presence on earth will be sorely missed.
Surviving is her mother, Christina Stidham-Smith of Hudson; sisters, Adrianna (Troy) Davis of Morenci, Emilee (Cedric) Kutzley of Morenci, and Lauren (James) Counts of Adrian; her maternal grandmother, Jeanne (Richard) Bohs of Hudson; maternal great-grandmother, Donna Bice of Hudson; her “grandma” Joanne Ferguson of Hudson; maternal uncle and aunt, Larry (Ann) Stidham of Hudsonville, MI; paternal aunt, Lora Holt of Collierville, TN; her beloved nieces and nephews, Tyler, Keegan and Eli Davis, Letti, Leila and Callen Kutzley, and Jameson and Adalynn Counts; cousins, Jacob (Liv) Stidham, Katheryn (John) Hall, Hannah (Tyler) Wagaman and Noah (Jorja) Stidham; and her best friend, Tara Landis of Bryan, OH, and her daughters, Veda and Tris.
Greeting her in Heaven were her father, Robert Smith; maternal grandfathers, Gene Stidham and Lloyd “Buck” Bice; paternal grandparents, Harold and Marjorie Smith; and cousin, Jenn Campbell.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Open Door Bible Church in Hudson on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until a memorial service begins at 4:00 p.m. Beloved family friend Pastor John (Jeannie) Maguire will officiate. A meal will follow with continued fellowship in the church hall.
Memorial contributions in honor of Charity are suggested to benefit Elara Caring Hospice. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Marry Funeral Home, Hudson.
