Rafael S. Duran, age 82, of Tecumseh, died Saturday, November 15, 2025, while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. Born January 1, 1943, in Huntsville, TX, he was the son of Rafael S. and Juanita (Sanchez). On March 7, 1981, he married Delia Leon Torres. They shared over 41 years together before her passing on May 22, 2022.
Rafael was a devoted 34-year employee of the former Merillat Industries, where he retired in 2005. A lover of the outdoors, Rafael enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and riding his beloved Honda Gold Wing. He is remembered for his ever-present happy-go-lucky and positive nature.
Surviving are two sons, Rafael A. Duran of Adrian and Robert Duran of Queens, NY; a daughter, Martina Aranda of Adrian; three step-sons, David Adam Torres, Ruben J. Torres, and Greg Torres; two sisters, Virginia (Bruce) Englehart and Juanita (Wes) Rightmire; three grandchildren, Austin Aranda, Kayla Aranda and Christianna Duran; and a great-granddaughter, Aliciana Torres.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delia; two sisters, Mary Duran and Ruth Duran; two brothers, Mike (Mary Ellen) Duran and Gowell Duran; a half-brother, Ponciano Lara Sr.; a half-sister, Damacia Valdes; a step-son, Ezequiel Torres; and a step-daughter, Christine Salazar.
In accordance with Rafael’s wishes, cremation will take place. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 5-7 p.m.
